If the UK did sign up to Schengen, then all of the Calais migrants could flock to Dover unchallenged meaning France's problem would immediately become a British one

Should we sign up to Schengen, or should we tell the French where to go?

Tell the cheese eating surrender monkeys where to go!
Its only the mayor who is making these statements. The riot police are trying to break up these camps and she is not controlling them. I blame the British politicians for allowing this scandel in Calais to continue. The French are right.....if conditions in Britain are right for them why should they not want to come here. The problem is the feebleness to change the way they get treated once here. They have no rights and its our duty to get them deported.

if the french dont want them, why can't they send 'em back to their country of origin?
Sorry for the double posting above. Nothing was happening on my PC and eventally had to restart it not knowing if my posting was a success or not. I don't know if theres a problem with my PC or its with answerbank?
No we should not! Close the damned door now!
Tell you what? Why don't we all vacate the UK, thus allowing millions of scumbags to flood in, then we can all demand that the French accept us as stateless nomads?
If the boot was on the other foot would they help us out? I think we all know the answer!
The Schengen Agreement issue is a bit of a red herring. It provides freedom of movement for people legally settled in Europe. The people in Calais are not legally settled in France and so the benefits of the agreement would not apply.

However, if the UK did sign up to it, the problems of separating those people moving without papers who were not entitled to do so from those who were so entitled would be enormous. I cannot see even this government signing the agreement on behalf of the UK.

The notion that the French should send them back to their country of origin is admirable, albaqwerty and has been proposed before, particularly by Geezer. Unfortunately, the hapless souls have no papers and refuse to say where they came from, so nobody knows where to send them to (even if it could be done Human Rights, remember).

Paraffins idea of a population swap is not so far fetched. It has already begun, with members of the UKs armed forces living in tents in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan and having their legs blown off, whilst citizens of those countries enjoy a far more agreeable lifestyle living here on benefits in council flats.

I was in Calais this week, and believe me, it is no longer a nice town. I would be reluctant to have a stroll around the town (which I used to enjoy). There are large numbers of aliens loitering all over the place and the atmosphere in the bars and shops is that things kick off extremely readily.

Despite the assertion made by Phil Woolas, MP (another government dreamer) that they are not queuing to get in to the UK:

they clearly are there for no other reason. The problem will not be solved until the UK stops welcoming them with open arms instead of returning them to Fr

I doubt there is anything wrong with your computer rov, it happens to me all the time and has done for several weeks.

You type your text, then click submit and nothing happens. I generally copy what I have posted, then come off AB.

When I return I generally find my post has been entered, if not I paste and have another go.

It is useless reporting the fault, they just do not answer your emails.

Another fault I have had recently is that all the email links they send me telling me I have a reply are all the same, and all direct me to the same one question, even though I have posted more than one question.

No I blame the fact that we are held down due to the fact of being a member of the EU. Human rights legislation, and all that.

Although it seems we are the only country to obey the rules, no matter what, other countries only seem to obey the ones that suit themselves.
One of the main reasons that migrants prefer the UK to France is we can be controlled by the police at any time for proof of identity here in France whereas once in the UK no proof of identity is demanded. This is the reason that identity cards are free so nobody can say they can't afford one.

I've never suggested sending them back to their country of origin, I've suggested sending them straight back to the country they arrived from, so we send them back to France, France send them back to whereever all the way back to the first safe country where they have to apply for asylum or whatever. What this will do very quickly is apply the current rules of the EU. Eg they arive in Italy on a boat, then fly to France, the French know they came from Italy, back they go, you do not need to know where they came from originally, they should apply for asylum etc in Italy in this case.

For our part we know they came from France, don't even ask their name, back to France they go. France would very quickly wake up and the camp at Calais would dissipate very quickly.

If the French are so concerned about these people being in their Country why did they let them into France in the first place?

Or was it the case that because there is no control over people entering France from another Schengen country the French are saddled with the problem?

Some country somewhere within the Schengen area allowed these people entry - either lawfully, or did not do enought to stop them enterimng illegally.

It is now a French problem and it is up to them to solve it.

Heh hang on there paraffin, I think you have got my posts mixed up.

I have made no reference to you being juvenile on this post, only to your post in my question regarding Pakistan, which you must admit was rather juvenile.
Sorry, Geezer, you are quite right. Your idea (which I wholeheartedly support) is to return them to France forthwith. The audacity of the French in providing advice on how to claim asylum in the UK is outrageous.

There have been so many debates on here recently about this, I'm getting confused (not difficult).

Yes, that's the one - but I'm still in the corner as a result of your rebuke - let me back, please....pretty please???
