The Blairites will continue their plotting, but Lord Mandy, as long as he remains on Brown's side will probably out maneouvre and out bully them.
Whatever Labour do, short of a miracle, they will lose the next election. The electorate are just fed up of them. It would be a poison chalis to elect someone like Alan Johnson just to lose.
They will hope for the economy to improve in the next 12 months, and that expenses scandal will be forgotten. Probably lose, but not as drastically than if they triggered an election now, then elect a new leader with a clean sheet.

Now that Labour is such a broad church you would expect some disagreements within it. Add to this you get sacked ministers like the failed Chas Clarke who is forever stirring,
and Byers who is glued to the hoof of Tony Blair (makes you wonder what favours he obtained). Its only a mid term protest vote by the electorate so when the dust has cleared, the country has emerged from recession, and people start getting their jobs back by next year he will be the saviour and will be amptly rewarded at the ballot box.
