At last..
A police investigation into MPs expenses, nor all but a few, Elliott Morley, Baroness Oodin and David Chaytor being three of them, it beggars belief how anyone could claim 10,000 in Council tax when the bill for the year is 4,000??? and the DT is publishing a "glossy supplement" today to verify this, should make interesting reading, I am not a DT reader, but may buy it today.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.the whole thing is disgusting, one mp claimed the max 400 each time for food. why is this allowed to happen? i went to see my local mp once and when i was leaving the office i told him what a disgrace the place was, cobwebs everywhere dirty carpets dust you could write your name in couldnt see out of the windows for filth on them, and his reply, cant afford to get a cleaner!!!!!!!
Just checked the list, it is my MP, Dave Anderson, who has claimed 400 per month for food, another is Newcastle's Nick Brown 19,000 which he does not see as "unreasonable" please correct me here, but does food come into the expenses, I would imagine it would have to if you were living 380 miles from home, but 19,000?????
Don't hold your breath waiting for any successful prosecutions. The police will have to prove that there was deliberate intention to mislead the fees office, and not simply 'accounting oversights', which won't be easy.
Of course, the rest of us couldn't get away with such an excuse when trying to disprove tax evasion and other fraud, but that's the advantage they have of being able to make up one set of rules for us and a different set for them.
