I was sad to learn that Teletext is coming to an end (does anyone know why?) and just hope BBC Ceefax is not going the same way. If it does I shall seriously consider living without television. So much of it is just watching people talking and gesticulating. But without TV what would then be the simplest way of checking the time, day and date?

A watch maybe?
A clock and a calendar.

Or possibly the clock on the screen you are reading this on.

There is nothing on teletext/ceefax that cannot be accessed quicker and easier on the internet. It is a technology that has run its course.

Thanks both. I was thinking of the need to check for accuracy. There used to be a number that one could dial on the telephone but I don't know what happened to that. Not sure about the clock on the computer screen or how reliable it is.

Thank you all. I'm signing off now as my question has been well answered.

It seems there could be interesting discussion about how people are coping with the loss of Teletext, alternative TV channels and the digital changeover. Anyone like to start a new thread? All for now.

I wasn't aware that anyone with an internet connection would need to use Ceefax/Teletext?
