Does anyone else find it sickening the way people have forgot about the dirty dealings of this man, in the weekend papers and todays "The last of the Kennedy Dynasty"
The old man, Joe Kennedy hated the British with a passion, while JFK was an all American good-looker but a womaniser never the less, and dear old Bobby, allegedly was linked to the "mob"
Lest we forget, Ted Kennedy left a young woman to die, Mary Jo Kopechne rather than face up to him also playing the field, the families assetts were from ill gotten gain namely organised crime, so I, for one, can't go all mushy on the departure of the last Kennedy!

I take it that you didn't sign the book of condolences, then?
I agree Bobbisox, mentioned that to mum the other day as she had told us all about the Kennedys when we were wee and even she said "he's done a lot for charity tho" she's forgotten the bad bits too lol

Yep they were some family.
Joy....spot on.

Haven't you noticed that everybody is wonderful after they have died?

Can you imagine at the funeral service of someone...." he was a miserable old s0d, nobody liked him, tight fisted, confrontational, left wing layabout for which the world will be a better place without him"

No Joy, life is not like that.
who says people have forgotten? I haven't seen a single news story or obituary that hasn't mentioned Chappaquiddick, usually at length.

Couldn't care less about where the money came from (you think the royal family's wealth was honourably obtained?) Couldn't care less about bootlegger Joseph. Couldn't care less about whether JFK was a womaniser (he was also a war hero.) They are remembered for being politicians, not for what they did off the field. Did they do well? Teddy spent decades working hard on legislation affecting almost every American. So Americans remember him - though you don't have to.

He's not the last, there's a sister still alive, I think.

hi weeal and Sandy, while I would feel for any family losing a loved one, and I do for his, but to write drivel like "Last Knight of Camelot" in the papers, they must think we are all forgetful!
Oh, weeal, I'm coming to Bonnie Scotland on the 31st Oct (no I'm not flying there on my broomsick...lol)
Arnie Schwartzenegger is married to a Kennedy isnt he?

A wee holiday bobbisox? visiting family? Scotland welcomes you (just watch what u say about us till then lol)
You only had to look at his bloated face to see that he was an habitual drunkard. He also watched while his son raped a woman on the beach and did nothing to help her. The son got off on a technicality if I remember it rightly.

I found the eulogies sickening, but what sickened me even more was that he was given a knighthood by Gordon Brown. This after siding with the IRA at every turn and welcoming those barbarians to America and treating them like heroes. Has GB no shame?

Hi sqad, spot on, I want o be at my wake...lol
why should everyone else have fun...?
to answer you jno, your'e right, I don't have to fawn all over the Kennedy name and when I said the Kennedy clan, I'm sorry but I meant the brothers, as far as I am aware, the sister is or has been quite low profile, and Ted Kennedy did leave someone to die, regardless what he did off the field
Ted was the only male Kennedy offspring to die of natural causes apparently.
Seriously, one of the brothers was killed during military service in WW11. Two others were assassinated.
Ted Kennedy matured into a decent, left wing by American standards, politician.
Their father scrambled his way to the top, and did what was necessary to get there. That's the American way.
Consider George Bush, during the Vietnam war he served his country as a coast guard stationed on the East Coast of the USA near Washington.
The Kennedys weren't plaster saints, but America can be proud of them.
well I still think they had a hand in killing Marylin Monroe, so tragic
Question Author
yes daisy-mae, I do remember that, money talks and it has for them, and yes he did support the IRA, wasn't it he who was intrumental in inviting one Gerry Adams, to the White House,
Oi weeal, I love the Scotties, I do, we are coming up for a 40th, theres 10 of us, staying at Loch Long
sandy....I thought that the question was ..TED KENNEDY...read daisy-mae's answer and reflect on your words....but America can be proud of them.

something certaily happened along the way to MM weeal, I agree
oh Loch Long in Argyll - right out in the sticks - you will love it
They know more about Marilyn, I think. Not forgetting Mary-jo either.
No amount of high profile "good works" could ever make up for leaving a young woman to die just so that he isn't accused of having a fling on the side. Clearly his wife believed he was, she miscarried their child and then divorced him.

let you see the pics in FB when I've been weeal!!!

I think the Kennedy family have had more than their fair-share of bad luck through the years, but I can not look up to Sir Ted after what he did to a young girl,
jno, what do you think might of happened to Marylyn Monroes, just curious
what a mess they made of their private lives really
Question Author
and of those they were in contact with al, but to hail him as a hero and bestow on him a knighthood? I would think of many more Brithish people who would be worthy of that title
