But no-one knew that this level of crime would be committed, did they? did the parents leave him there knowing that he was being bullied so much? could they have prevented it? could the school, seing as the attackers werent from that school?
I have to say that unless this child requires medical help or has been severely hindered if life then i can see why £1m is requested by the family.

I think it is impossible to say whether it is fair or not. How damages for pain suffering and loss of amenity are valued depend on so many factors such as the nature of the injury, how permanent, whether it will cause degeneration or loss of life expectancy, the effect on every day life, whether care is needed, his prospects on the labour market are just some of the factors. There will undoubtedly have been extremely detailed medical reports before any quantification of the claim is attempted.
