I learnt precisely nothing.
Truth be known Griffin wasn't seeking to speak to the likes of me, I don't feel he did enough to convince the peoplle he wished to speak to.
He missed his main trick, to answer questions yes or no, Andrew Marr once asked him (a few weeks ago) "did he view Ilsam as a cancer upon our society?" he answered yes.
I didn't agre with his answer, or his reasoning, but he gave a straight answer.
How many politicians can you say that about?
I DON'T AGREE WITH WHAT HE SAYS, BUT HE SAYS SOMETHING AND THAT IN ITSELF CAN BE PERSUASIVE.

I think NG looked a little nervous. But he had no need as no one really tested him. Most people who vote for his party will already know enough about that party. As touched on in the programme, in many cases a vote for the BNP is a vote protesting about the woeful immigration controls for the UK. The major parties need to demonstrate that this country cannot and should not have an open door to anyone who wishes to come here.
My husband is currently signing on. What he sees going on in the jobcentre would very much surprise most people. If Jack Straw has a points policy then my husband would not have witnessed a despairing jobcentre worker trying to help a non English speaking, indeed non speaking for the most part, thumb sucking, 30+ year old black man. Just in from an African country. How many points did he have? What job will he get?
It's not racist to ask questions about this situation. It's sensible to be at least concerned.
I liked Bonnie Greer and the lib dem man.

Only thing that made that worth watching was when Griffin tried to tell people that he'd be prosecutedfor speaking his mind on the Holocaust.
And Jack Straw "I'm the Justice secretary and I can assure you you won't"
That was funny.
Otherwise the politicians were given far too much time to make long rambling speeches and the audience just wanted to shout at Griffin - a bit disappointing really
would have liked to see Griffin probed on Homosexuality more ;c)

Griffin should have been allowed to answer without being shouted down continually - at least this would've allowed all to see what a pillock he is.
His treatment reminded me of the treatment meted out to the ex US ambassador on the special QT just after the Twin Towers terrorist attack. The audience was filled with muslims and they wouldn't let the poor guy speak, and Dimbleby was next to useless.
The thing that annoyed me most about last night (other than the idiots outside the BBC - the irony of their moronic behaviour clearly being lost on them) is that I wanted to know what Griffin thought about things that are happening in the news at the moment, education, health care and so on - these are the issues that elections are fought on
Griffin is cleary a racist idiot and his party should be derided, but he should have been given a fair crack of the whip. And he wasn't.

I felt the tone of the programme was wrong at times. It seemed as if Griffin was being ganged up on, which is exactly the role he would have wanted. It's exactly the brainless persecution complex that most of his supporters cling to as well.
I thought Bonnie Greer walked it.She was class. Baroness Warsi went for the easy soundbite a few times too often. Huhne is smart but got dragged into point-scoring and said nothing that stood out. Straw was woeful. Totally the wrong choice.
Nick Griffin did look nervous. His attempts to wriggle out of the holocaust issue were genuinely humiliating. He loves to swing an answer round to those issues and slogans that play to the gallery but lacks the subtlty to do it well. This week, I've been suprised. I did think he was much smarter than he's turned out to be.
Then again, the people that vote for the BNP don't think this deeply about politics, so the analysis is a bit pointless.
