Actual aspects of powerful unions can be either left or right wing it is dependant upon if the 'power' is used to assist those that produce or used to line the pockets of the wealthy.
In response to ansteyg:-Since we have had capitalisism imposed on us for generations, it may be nice to remove the politics of greed and have a more socialist country. Thats looks after all of its population. and shares the wealth fairly, You know good pensions, good schools, good Health Service, All these are Socialist concepts.
Dont believe the hype when people discuss Socialism as being a dirty word. It has never been tried. Yes Hitler appropriateing the term for his own facist evil, and Macarthy bastardised and demonised the term in that rather 'pleasant' time period in America where the anyone with a left wing opinion was black listed or trialled (See Arthur Millers The cruscible as a modern parable of this) then you find that Socialism has never actually been tried. The closest it has ever come in the world was in Atleys post war government. The very one that brought us Free Education and Free Healthcare for all. Not bad really?
