My daughter lives in Ireland and is in full time education. I'm not entitled to child benefit for her so how come they are?
I wonder if other countries in Europe pay benefits to their citizens living abroad. If Brown had his way we would come the eternal dustbin for claimants. If Britain is in hoc to £bns then we cannot be a rich country. If I existed by building up my credit card enormously to fund my lifestile I would not be classed as rich. Charity starts at home.
I wonder how many do have kids in their home country....how do the authorities check?
According to the article it's an E.U rule, so the deal should be reciprocal, as far as I am aware it is.
Similarly in Spain we have some sort of reciprocal deal with regard to access to their health service.
the eu is a wondrous thing

i can think of many many benefits to membership of the ever expanding eu

heres a list...

.
We are seen as an easy target by every Tom Dick and Abdul. It will never stop while Brown and his socially engineering chums who think they can save the world with our money are in power.

What is the actual rule, anybody have a reference to it ?
Well I phoned them to inform them that my daughter had moved to Ireland and they stopped my child benefit straight away.
Northern or southern Ireland. ?

Some useful information on Child Benefit.
I wonder how many of the parents who claimed Child Benefit for a child in Poland, or elsewhere, have now returned home due to the credit crunch and have failed to inform Child Benefit centre of their change in circumstances. This Benefit like all others is now paid into a bank account, no going to the post office therefore easy to obtain and if an overpayment was made virtually impossible to recover the money
The problem isn't where people are working - the problem is that this benefit is not means tested.

This state assistance is paid to millionaires!

Long overdue for a rethink!
