Incidentally £380,000 is not a vast budget for a film with a nationwide cinema release. With the press it's attracted, it will easily recoup it's initial investment. Bravo to Penny Woolcock for focussing on the subject. If it's anywhere near as good as Mishief Night, she's got a winner.

Yes it should. We don't all want to watch romantic comedies at the cinema, and new talent should always be encouraged.

Letting the gangland leaders dictate which films can been screened is the more worrying aspect of this story. If they do not want me to watch it, I want to watch it. Caving in like this on the strength of a email is pathetic.

Don't you think we have enough problems on our streets, with Gang Culture, drugs, knife crime and gun crime that goes along with it., without wasting lottery cash glorifying it?

I assume you've already seen the film. In what way does it glorify gun crime. Which scenes in particular are you referring to?

Of course AOG has not seen it, he needs the Express to tell him what he must think.

He does not know the difference between potrayal and glorify. Using his criteria, films such as 'the Battle of Britain' glorify War rather than portray actual events.

This film will not glorify gangland violence no more than 'The Italian Job' glorified bank robbery.

So should there be a committee to decide what is art and what is not? Would only non-challenging non-offensive work get made? Of course lottery cash should be given to up and coming film makers, without censorship.

I think this is important-

Another article-in yesterdays Times-stated that gang crime actually was down during the period in which the film was being made.....a possible indication that giving gang members an activeity and a focus kept them off the streets.

Brilliant, provide all inner cities gangsters with a local Clay pigeon shoot, followed by an all inclusive annual trip up to Balmoral on the glorious 12th, for a spot of real killing.
