The Sun seems to be orchestrating a personnel campaign against against Gordon Brown. Is the fact that his handwriting isn't copperplate a reason to attack him.
How many other PM's have written letters of condolences to the families of servicemen and women killed in action?

I think the odd spelling mistake is OK, but he got the surname wrong and the soldier's name wrong, then he just
wrote over the wrong letter. Not really what the poor greiving mother wanted to see.
The Sun makes me laugh. They licked the Labour parties boots just prior to Blair being elected now look at them.
Well it is more of a magazine...
Sandy.....I agree. I didn't like the chap, but he is getting so much stick now that he might get my sympathy vote.

I think that it was understandable of him to write a hand written letter of condolence, as in my view it was unnecessary particularly for a busy chap. Give GB a break now as he is getting slated for any minor detail.
surely the difference between Janes and James is minute - Im sure this lady is well used to this mistake being made. The man wrote a personal letter and has bad writing partly due to his eye. I think the sun is cashing in on this ladys grief
My Great uncle was Killed in WWI

They misspelt his name on the war memorial

I don't hold Lloyd George personally responsible.

To me this stinks of a journalist's encouragement - Rupert Murdoch must be very proud
yes I agree, not just the Sun though this is on News 24/sky news, the mother concerend is doing herself no favours. He wrote a personal letter, presumably to all troops, ok not gramatically perfect but at least he did it. I think they're making a mountain out of a mole hill frankly. To answer your other question, the great Mrs Thatcher of course wrote to the families of all dead servicement on her watch too.
I knew that Geezer............I just daren't write it......
Poor Gordon - can't do anything right at the moment.
He'd have been in trouble if he hadn't had wrote at all, he'd have been slated if the letter had been typewritten or impersonal, he's in trouble because his handwriting is a bit scrawly and he put a 'm' rather than a 'n'.

I know he should have been more vigilant & it is very important to the boy's family - but lay off Gordon.
why not craft, there may be Mrs T haters on here but they are usually people who have been spoon fed lefty rhetoric at school by bitter lefty teachers, who did like their flawed ideology hammered.
Five clichés in one sentence?

A record surely?
how ironic that in writing your question you mistakenly write personnel when you mean personal

I can't blame poor eyesight for that dreadful error, just ignorance. Should semi-literate people like me be allowed to own and use computers?
salla...he's a Snag, not only did he place n for an m he also used a u instead of an o......I'll demonstrate the correct spelling and you change accordingly; 'comfort' and his f looked like a t....making a 4 letter word our Ed would censor.
Murdoch ,of course, has written to All the Families of the fallen. Hypocrite !

Oh take heart Sandy - even the Great Geezer got so excited at the thought of Margaret Thatcher he wrote:

bitter lefty teachers, who did like their flawed ideology hammered.

Perhaps he should give himself a blue badge

Or maybe it's just the product of a right wing education
"right wing education" - Not really possible in the state education system jake!

If semi-literate persons can run a country, then don't worry about it, feel free to enjoy using your computer.
'Could the Sun sink any lower?' - Yes, and they have done on many occasions.

Typical gutter press garbage. As much as I dislike Brown, I dislike tabloid journalism even more. Having said that, if you're going to make this kind of gesture, you really need to get it right.
