Getting into the mind of Leaders
http://www.dailymail....don-Browns-anger.html
Should any leader about to assume power have his writing assessed by professional graphologists and the results published?
We know that politicians can be evasive but they never reveal their hidden flaws. When it comes to important decisions such as war don't we need a full assessment of his/her character.
Graphology is widely used in industry to sort out prospective job applicants and is a tested science.
This is not just a swipe at Gordon Brown but could apply to anyone about to assume power.

Bad spelling gets my goat sometimes - only because I'm fortunate to not have had any problems grasping the art of spelling (!), but I would never judge someone's talent, intelligence or ability on their handwriting. My BF is incredibly intelligent at some things - things that I am not, but his handwriting is absolutely appalling. He only seems able to print, and even then it's scrawl.

Where as I think there may be something in this graphology business, it's all a bit subjective and I wouldn't trust one of these as some sort of indicator. Same as a lie detector. Anyway how do you propose to implement such a scheme? eg are you saying that you would prevent someone from standing in any form of election if they do not pass some sort of graphology test? Or do you mean the final hurdle to becomming PM should be such a test?

Businesses should be able to apply whatever selection process they wish when choosing staff. It is not the job of Government tot get involved in how businesses want to recruit. As long as they comply with all discrimination legislation, they should be allowed to do whatever they want.
Saying that, I would not advise any business to use Graphology as it is complete claptrap.

Graphology is NOT claptrap. It has some merit. How do I know? Because I once had it done at my expense and it did show up some of my traits.
Anyway as youngmafblog says if its alright for business then why not MPs. At least businees choices do not affect the country as a whole.
R1 Geezer I would have thought the implementation would be quite simple. Before they are appointed a senior post they should take a test and if they decided to go ahead based on the result it should be public knowledge. However if they wished to keep it secret they can always refuse the post. As for the PM himself this would be taken just before he accepts the post. So now if Milliband puts himself forward for PM he would take the test beforehand. We should also know how Cameron would perform. The old cliche saying if there's nothing sinister in the result what's the problem.
Then there are the sceptics like Gromit. If the general public agree it is nonsense then any published result would be taken at face value. The rest of us can make our own opinions.

So the votes of 18,500 of Brown's constituents count for nothing compared to a a block who looks at his handwriting?
//With hindsight I wonder how many Germans would have supported HItler if they had known about his traits. (See the link above). This would have prevented 60,000,000 people being killed in WWII including 6,000,000 Jews.//
When you had the test done, was one of the traits discovered, that you are incredibly naive?

They should have to have their tea leaves read as well.
If it's good enough for grandmas, it should be good enough for MPs.
And it DOES have merit. I once had my tea leaves read and the lady predicted that my immediate future would involve another cup of tea and a biscuit, and moments later, that's exactly what I had. COINCIDENCE???

I have noticed on this site that even when things are printed in black and white they refuse to believe the facts. I can only think they are born losers and have to take their frustration out on any suggestion anybody else comes up with.
For instance on another posting Gromit could not believe that the tribes knew about Taliban operations and in the main they steered clear of the IEDs. Well only yesterday we had the a Pakistan general lecturing a group of elders telling them to hand in their Taliban sons. Cause the Taliban inform their own family of the IEDs you twit.
A few years ago Terry Wogan had a graphologist on his program every day to decipher a well known persons handwriting. He was right nearly every time.
Therefore don't criticize every suggestion that someone besides yourself may have the answers. It only demeanours yourself.

//Gromit could not believe that the tribes knew about Taliban operations and in the main they steered clear of the IEDs.//
That is not true on two instances.
1. I said some Afghans support the taleban and many do not.
2. You have omitted that you implied that local Afghans were not killed and maimed. Far from steer clear of IEDs, many more Afghans are killed than British troops. I detailed many cases for you.
//Terry Wogan had a graphologist on his program (sic). He was right nearly every time. //
It is clear we do not share the same standards of what is evidence that something is true.

"""Claire Charlwood, who teaches graphology at Glasgow University, said the notes betrayed a headstrong character who was clearly rattled"""
Gromit you obviously have not done much research. Maybe you have no faith in university teaching. I'm glad everyone is not as prejudiced as you. That quote was also in my link above.
