If we're guessing papers who do you think published:

Neighbours said the four-year-old's uncle, Christian Foulkes, 21, was often seen walking the dog.

Some said the pitbull was a 'weapon' dog and was used to intimidate people.

Mr Foulkes recently joined the Army but has been allowed home on emotional leave because of his nephew's death.

If certain people cared to concern themselves more with the real tragedy regarding this sad case, instead of making snide remarks about certain newspapers or in Zeuhl's case snide remarks against me.

Then perhaps they would have noticed, that maybe this poor little boy would still be alive, and looking forward to Christmas and Santa coming to bring his presents, if the authorities had not let him down, as is becoming more and more common these days.

This time the onus should be firmly planted at the door of the Police.

No AOG,the fault lies firmly with the people who knowingly bred illegal dogs,that happens to be the poor little boy's family. The police should have investigated when they were informed of the fact these dogs were being bred but you can hardly say it was their fault.

I would say that if the police had done what they should of done then there would have been a much much smaller chance of this happening - however they are not the once who bred and kept a dog that was classified as dangerous and created a situation where the dog was able to get to and attack him.

I agree with Daffy. I detest this blameless society where people don't take responsibility for their own actions and everything is always someone else's fault.

The parents of the little boy must have known that his grandmother (or other peron within the household) was breeding these dogs,they must have known there was a danger the dogs could turn on a human and yet they still allowed the grandmother to babysit their children in the house with the dogs.

It is not a case of it's always someone else's fault.

Yes taking into account it was the families fault no doubt, but I was in no way defending the boys family, I was only trying to report something that up till then no one hadn't bothered to point out.

We do not live in a perfect world.

There are plenty of dysfunctional families about these days, who are not prepared to take on the responsibilities that come with having children, that is why we expect that the authorities step in and take charge at any sign of malfunction within these families, be them social workers, the police or whoever.

But at least apart from stating the obvious, that the family were primary at fault, at least it got the question firmly back on track, and away from snipes at the newspapers "our boys" or even myself.

In closing Daffy can't you now bring yourself into agreeing with me, that in this case, due entirely to the families irresponsibility, and since the police had previously been informed of the situation, one can say it was definitely the police's fault?

AOG.I will never agree that the death of this poor little boy was the fault of the police.
I did say in my first answer on this thread that the police should have investigated the complaint they received about the dog breeding but that does not mean they are to blame.
I am waiting for the compensation claim from the boy's family against the police.I wonder how long they will wait before they start proceedings.

It does seem to be a 'certain type' of person who owns or breeds pitbulls. Most people realise these dogs are illegal and by their unpredictable nature are very dangerous,especially around small children who are more inclined to be boisterous and may 'spook' the dogs. There is no excuse for having or breeding one of these dogs when thre are many more suitable breeds to own as pets.
