Muslims, Wind Your Necks In! Is Sarkozy Right?
President Sarkozy of France is backing the Swiss ban on minarets by "advising" Muslims to be "more discreet" when living in predominantly Christian countries.
Is he right? Does he have a valid point? Or is he simply displaying homophobic tendencies towards a minority faith in his country? Why shouldn't Muslims have as much of a voice as Christians?

I think that its really important that we shouldn't tar all Muslims with the same brush, the same as all Irish when the Troubles were at their height. BUT Religions MUST operate within the legal framework of the country of residence. This means no prejudice, equal freedom of speech and action for both genders and so on.
As a Swiss politician said " todays its only 4 minarets, tomorrow its 40 then its 400 then its ....."

Can you be more explicit?
What do you say about a few dozen 'Travellers Caravans' at the bottom of your garden?
Or perhaps a real South African 'Shanty Town', just down the road?
Or maybe a few 'Chinese Junks' moored in your favourite Cornish harbour?
Or a few 'Sky Scrapers' built in a typical English village, maybe?
Well why not go the whole hog, let's bulldoze all our traditional British tourist attractions, and start all over again, this time to image the multi racial, multi culture country, we have become?

What are existing planning laws for? You need planning permission to build a church or a mosque. Islam does not require a minaret, which is why, for example, only a few mosques in Switzerland have one. It's no more essential to a mosque than a spire is essential to a church. Sarkozy's France has strict planning laws. Switzerland has planning laws too.
So what's the problem?
