I would call the action barbaric, but not call the perpetrators savages because that has racists connotations (as has been pointed out the several other times you call black people savages)..

I am not particularly interested in the rights or wrongs of the use of the word - but if I say something and some one tells me that they find it offensive, I don't use the word in front of them. I have a friend who finds it offensive to use God's name in vain - guess what, I go to great lengths to avoid using one of my favourite phrases (Jesus Christ) when in front of him. It seems strange that you decry modern day manners, but go to great lengths to be as inconsiderate as possible.

Can someone please tell our politicians these backward countries can behave as they wish without us interfering. We are not the world's policemen. When the Chilcot enquiry findings are produced the lessons learnt should say don't meddle in other countries affairs.
