But if you mean do I disagree with having proper intelligence coupled with proper security measures to prevent criminals pursuing some perverted ideology to dangeous ends, no, I'm all for it.
Or do you think that the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq are some 'war on terror?
If not, what do you mean by that expression, that you think anyone could be against whatever it is ?

the problem is whether you can make war against an abstract noun. You want to catch terrorists, fine; but the CIA and MI6 have been after them for years without the necessity of declaring a 'war'.
The question doesn't really need asking, does it? Everyone's against terror, just like they're against crime and poverty.

When they agree with your philosophy they're not terrorists but freedom fighters.
Remember the Contras in Nicaragua? The Americans financed them by selling weapons to Saddam Hussein. America backs Israel with billions of dollars yet it terrorises its neighbours. This support is one of the chief reasons that many in the Islamic world are up in arms.

How about there are some not so nice people out there whose views are that if you dont subscribe to their ideology , then you must be a satan and must be extinguish , by whatever means .
If you are one of those ' satans' then your government is quite correct in being pro-active in attempting to ensure that you and I are not extinguished by these not so nice people .
Oh hang on - Is this a 'war' against terror? - actually it makes no odds to me what you want to call it .
All I know is that I am quite fond of breathing oxygen and with my body parts remaining in close proximity with each other - i.e , as they are now .

ahmskunnirt, is THAT what it is? So when are we going to conduct this 'war on terror' in Yemen or Somalia or Luton or Bradford,or even Egypt whence these terrorist criminals come ? And do you count Iraq in this mysterious concept of a war against an abstract noun ?Or was that a place where 'our boys were dying as heroes but not in a war against terror ? And kindly explain exactly how our soldiers dying in Afghanistan in a fight is preventing even one plane being blown up, one attack in Britain or one man becoming an Islamic extremist. When you are doing that you might explain it to the soldiers families too.
