DOES ANYONE RECOGNISE ME !!!!!!

Can anyone help me recognise the person in photo no. 8 in the General knowledge section of the northern echo quiz? (scroll down) The photo in the actual newspaper has more detail and appears to sugest it is a lady, as she is wearing red beads, and close behind her in stepped elevation are people applauding. It looks a bit like an american political rally or the presentation at a snooker final. I would be grateful for any suggestions as I do not have a clue who it is.
