A supermarket worker who was thought to have licked a chicken before putting it back on a shelf has been jailed.
Adeel Ayub was believed to have carried out the act in a mobile phone clip, posted by a co-worker on the internet video website YouTube.
The 30-year-old, of Ribbleton, Preston was arrested and later admitted criminal damage - but licking the poultry was not among the five charges.
He has been jailed for 56 days by magistrates in the city.
The 30-year-old, who worked at Asda in Fulwood, Preston, pleaded guilty to five counts of criminal damage, between August 2005 and September 2008.
They relate to destroying a fire extinguisher, furniture, food stock and damaging clothing at the store.
Ayub, of Spinney Brow, Ribbleton, admitted stamping on the chicken - but denied that he had licked it.

He got off lightly, I would of given him longer than 56 days. It's idots like him that deserve being locked up for life. Makes ASDA look bad. Just watching that made me angry.
yes and I would have given him much longer in prison to think about what a *ick he is
6 months, that's what he deserved. Had there been a fire in that building someone might of needed to rely on that fire extinguisher working. Instead you get some f**ker who thinks it's funny to tamper with life saving equipment. Seeing this video has really p1ssed me off, - no comment.
if you had been his employer and he was doing this to your property while you were paying him I wonder whether you would have even asked this question?
What an idiot. He got off lightly.
finger lickin' good?

Must admit - I too wondered about the other(s) ?
yes but as it's not burglary I'll let him off with 5 years.
what ahmskunnirt says. Prison's pointless for this sort of crime; community service a very good idea.
My top tip for him is not to slap his back pocket "Asda style' whilst in jail as this may be seen as a "come on" by homosexual prisoners.

( Seriously, what an idiot, i expect behavior like this from unruly children not from idiotic adults, lets see him try and act the fool like this in front of other prisoners, they'll make his life a living nightmare)
He deserves a prison sentence in the country of his ethnicity......he may then appreciate the value of living UK.

If prison was prison instead of a holiday camp then it would be fine, but it isn't.

Community service and fines dont work. The likes of him dont turn up or pay and the authorities are too yellow bellied to do anything about it.

What ahmskunnirt and jno said. This is why the prisons are overcrowded to the extent that we're having to let really nasty violent criminals after serving half their pathetic sentence. There are too many idiots like this being locked up.I'd much rather see this person doing a good stint at clearing cr7p off the street or cleaning graffiti.
I can't be bothered to study that long film, but if he did lick the chicken then I have no sympathy at all. And even if he didn't, any mindless vandal who puts evidence of their crimes into the public domain, has nothing to complain about when they are sentenced.
Was there any explanation as to why he did those things, or is he just a looney!
I personally believe he needs to be sectioned- what sort of normal 30 year old behaves like this?

Sandwich short of a picnic if you ask me.
