Then they would have to swear their allegiance to this country, they break that and they face charges of treason, they could receive a wage and pay taxes instead of relying on the over stretched benefit system here.
Only then, would they be granted British citizenship

I think that is a little unfair, and an insult to all those brave National Service men, who fought and died in such places as, Korea, Malaya, Kenya, Suez.

N3wshound - You seem to be diverting this thread away from the initial premise. Bobbi has posited a scenario regarding 'incomers' - if you like, to this country.
Indiginous feral children/families on sink estates are certainly a problem but I don't think this is what Bobbi had in mind when she posted this thread.

it's just you seem to know a lot about the forces, so I thought you must have been a C.I.C or something like that
Now whether you agree or not when joining up, a pledge is taken for to the Queen, I refer to this pledge:

I....... ....... swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful
and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11
her Heirs and Successors
and that I will as in duty bound,
honestly and faithfully defend..
Her Majesty, her Heirs and Successors
in person, Crown and Dignity
against all enemies and will,
observe and obey all orders of
her Majesty, her Heirs and Successors
and of the Generals and Officers set over me

I have the utmost respect for the Gurkhas and I know they have been wronged by successive Governments,
but your resorting to insults is not really a 'grown-up' way of debating an issue is it?
