Brown declared we were best placed to come out of the recession but only now, after most others, do we finally see growth. Problem is it is a dissappointing 0.1pc so will he come clean about the state of our economy ?

Our economy was strong before the recession, and most of our competitors, to varying degrees also suffered the same fate as us. Every other industrialised country did exactly the same as us and put as much state money into the economy as possible. Our economy is down, but so is everybody elses.

Compared with most, we are still strong. We have a deficit, but as long as we have a plan and stick to it, then there is no problem. It is stupid to ignore the deficit, but it is also stupid to harm any growth by paying back more than we can afford.

We had the sixth biggest economy before the crash, and we will have the sixth biggest after.

Didn't GDP fall by 4.9% last year?

(despite monthly official forecasts that the recession was over!)

That's the benefit of running a Govt. who sack any experts who say something that doesn't suit the party line.

So Brown will never come clean about anything. And anyone who tries to come clean on his behalf will be sent to Siberia.

It would be like me asking Jayne if the drugs evidence is so good then why Cameron isn't backing returning cannabis to class C.
