///A primary school in Weston-super-Mare has been criticised for banning Valentine cards to save pupils the "emotional trauma" of being rejected.
Children at Ashcombe Primary School were stopped from exchanging cards because the head teacher said they were not emotionally mature enough to cope. ///
Kids will see adults giving and receiving these cards as a token of love (or lust!) and they emulate their elders. Of course it is just a bit of fun isn't it?
But kids will also see adults wear sexually provocative clothes - and will try and emulate that behaviour.
And kids will also see adults engaging in kissing etc - and try to emulate that behaviour.
We constantly say that kids grow up to fast and we are sexualising kids too soon, but as soon as a head teacher tries to draw a line, they are ridiculed and lambasted.
Are we guilty of sending kids mixed messages?
