Benefit-scrounging immigrants
Right now on TV, there's a programme which APPEARS to be suggesting that hard-working immigrants from Eastern Europe are happy to do jobs that workshy Brits shun.
Can any of the dailymailers please explain this to me?
I was under the impression that immigrants only came to this country to claim our benefits!!
I suspect that the documentary is the typical loony-lefty propoganda, masking the true nature of immigrants, but I just want to check.

Thank you for your posts, but I'm afraid it still doesn't add up.
I have it on goof authority that ALL immigrants come here to claim housing benefit, litter our streets and 'talk with funny accents'.
If the BBC are going to broadcas....
Oh dear - can't continue with this right-whinger bating thread because 'Mad Men' is about to start on BBC4.
Will have to continue tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the BBC chose tonight to premiere the new season of 'Damages' (starring the mighty Glenn Close), which rendered my interest in treading the dailymailers null and void.
I would, however be interested in hearing their take on the show - should we taken the silence of the right-whingers as proof that their views on immigrants is flawed? Or does this prove nothing more than there was something better on another channel?

Well perhaps if the left wing politicians did something about the ease at which Brits can spend their life on benefits we would need to to rely on immigrants.
British people are only lazy and living on benefits because this government ALLOWS them to be lazy and live on benefits.
If their benefits stopped they would soon get of their ar*e

We don't need these foreigner benefit scrounger, we've got our own true Brit scroungers http://news.bbc.co.uk...cks/herts/8530096.stm
To state the obvious, individuals are different. Yes we all have similarities but we have different ideas, aims, etc. too.
This is why there are a number of problems with immigration; and you see some trying to 'poo poo' the warnings from those pointing out one problem, by highlighting the activities of a different "group" of immigrants.
I'm sure some come here because the welfare is attractive, others come because they see working here will offer them a better standard of living than they can presently get in their native country. And of course the desperate will do anything and any wage. But I'm sure everyone is aware of that.

Yes I saw this programme sp1814 and posted a thread on it in sherminator's question, before I noticed your question.
Yes I was most impressed, by these Eastern Europeans, but this is only the rosy side of immigration, and yes you are quite right it only masks the true nature of immigration.
The BBC regularly screen programmes, such as this that show the good side of immigrants and the bad side of Brits, the advantages of immigration but never the disadvantages.
Would make a change to see the other side of the coin, but we won't will we?
