What exactly do you think this means? personally I think he will be in some secure unit and will be isolated from everyone apart from a few trusted professionals who are sworn to secrecy, therefore like his previous sentence of which he never saw a prison cell, he will almost certainly be having a comfortable time and not rubbing shoulders with hardened criminals who may have access to a mobile camera phone to take a snap of him and sell to a tabloid, I just cant see him being in a proper prison, can you?

The real Question is why do we not know what he has done we supposedly live in a free and open democracy ? If we are to have any faith in the justice system they should be open and free with their decisions

I suspect the reason that we have not been told is that there are criminal charges pending - which could be for anything. Given that he is innocent until proven guilty of these later charges (if any), it has been kept quiet to ensure he receives a fair trial.

The difference between other people facing a trial and Venables is that generally, previous convictions are not published because to do otherwise may well prejudice any tribunal to infer guilt because of previous behaviour. That is why previous convictions can only be heard by the jury if they meet certain criteria. Given Venables' notoriety any jury would be aware of his previous history if details of the charges against him are released.

It is of course merely my conjecture as to why we are not being told.

Given that literally everyone in the country has been discussing this news item for the last couple of days I wonder how Robert Thomson is feeling at the moment because somebody somewhere at work or in a pub etc must have discussed it in front of him. Will his mask slip and will he also end up back in custody.

If we are to believe some of the tabloid stories about Jon Venables' drug use etc then questions have to be asked about how the authorities have handled him because he should have been back inside a long time ago but no doubt his precious human rights would have been violated.

not only that, but in the last 9 years since his release he would have made new firends and aquaintences over the years under his new name, perhaps even an employer.

these people would also be exposed to mass media and vigilante attention of the great unwashed.
