Noo Labour? what does that term even mean? when you change new to noo how does that mock Labour(Which i assume thats what is meant to do?)
Noo isnt even a word? Its just something that sounds similar!!! unless its an accronym?

Elf and Safety -Why when you change health to Elf does it become an insult? how are you mocking health and safety by comparing it to a creature that uses a bow and arrow? I honestly don't get it.

I really just laugh at people using them as if its meant to annoy or insult(and who its targeting i have no idea) because they're completely unrelated!

Fair point, its just this is where they are always mentioned so thought somone could answer my question here.
For many years Labour were unelectable (after the Wilson / Callagham years).

So when Blair and his cronies came along they realised they had to change Labour's image or they would never get elected.

So they became "New Labour".

I guess "Noo Labour" is a slight micky take on the whole thing.
If you don't get it mate then no explanation will suffice.
Is it Noo as in the Scottish Och aye the noo

or is it Noo as in Noo! the opposite to Yess!

or is it deliberately illiterate because Labour are backwards?

Whatever, it is a poor joke and well past its sell by date.
"...then no explanation will suffice."
You're right: no explanation will suffice, because it's merely childish.

yes Geezer and any joke that needs to be explained is usually considered a rubbish joke!

Or maybe you're an elitist and enjoy this with your high and mighty chums(who are all in on it) while the rest of us just laugh at your appaling use of terrible humour when trying to discuss a serious subject like politics

Handbags at dawn.
For many years Labour were unelectable

Well for many years the Tories have been unelectable and actualy for similar image reasons - specifically the "nasty party" thing.

If Cameron fails to pull it off they will have a serious rebranding issue themselves more than changing a torch to a tree

I'm tempted to suggest a blue pitchfork but that would be mischievous

perhaps we'll see "New Torys" or "Newties" to their friends
It does act as an early warning as both "Noo Labour" and "Elf & Safety" are both Daily Mailisms.

We can then dumb down our replies when the target words appear.
Don't forget 'ooman rights'.
All those phrases are funny for about a month, maybe five weeks. Then they enter vernacular, and lose any 'bite' they had.

They're almost as cringe-making as when people use the word '...not' at the end of a phrase indicating that they don't believe in what they've just said.
and what about "compensayshun"!

Obviously they don't loose their bite where you are concerned, even "a chip on your shoulder", still ruffles your feathers.
'Elf & Safety' is used as a way of deriding the way people aren't allowed (supposedly) to do certain things because the stereotypical adeniodal man with a clipboard drops his aitches and pronounces th as f when not allowing such activities on 'Elf and Safety' grounds.

Nothing to do with an Elf (which I suspect you know) and more to do with the fact that 'Elf & Safety' looks better in print than 'Ealth & Safety'.
even "a chip on your shoulder"

I know, AOG! These uppity coloured fellas having the nerve to argue with elderly white people? It's out of line.
there is a trend of the youth of today to mispell things deliberately...text speak, weirdly spelt names, addinggg lotsss offff lettersss ontooo the enddd of words etc etc

no idea why they do it, but i assumed it was ,about trying to 'get down with the kids daddio'

then theres yoof tv etc..which i believe was coined by janet street porter...
