Which is worse: to abuse a child; to cover it up or to make excuses for the cover-up?

zita-green I believe a lot more could be done during the recruiting process. I had a neighbour who was involved in the recruitment of would be clerics and he said that 40% were, in his opinion , unsuitable to enter the church in any capacity. Of that 40% over half of them were gay and others were potential child abusers. However when he submitted his report, in the majority of cases he was overruled by the the bishops.
I stress this was only one clerics opinion and I have no way of validating his remarks.

Bundleone, I meant to add that I agree with your comments. Paedophiles seek out employment/opportunities where they have access to children.

Modeller, I must stress that it is very important to distinguish between paedophiles and homosexuals. Paedophiles are unable to conduct/enjoy/sustain a relationship with another adult so prey on children to satisfy their power games. Homosexuals are attracted to and can maintain relationships with an adult of the samje sex. They are not the same thing at all.

I didn't say that was my opinion I was repeating what my neighbour said about the recruiting process when accepting people for the church, and that whatever his opinion and that of his colleagues concerning the suitability of candidates it was overruled by the bishops. I agree with you paedophiles and being gay is not the same thing.
