My calculator is a Casio fx-81, unremarkable except that I bought it in 1980 before I went to Uni and what's more remarkable is that I only changed the batteries a few weeks ago. Still does the business!

They dont make things like they used to.I find if something is about 25 years old and still going,it probably will keep going.
My iron is something from the 60's,no steam,fancy settings or anything,just 3 heat settings.
Simple but does the job still!

I've got two fridges in my garage that we bought third or fourth hand before we moved into this house and we've been here since 1992. Probably filled with serious amounts of banned and toxic coolant CFC's, but they work brilliantly at keeping our beer and cocktail ingredients chilled.

I've still got one of the 1st. Transistor Radios,advertised at the time by Cliff Richard, from the 1950's,still works but the programmes on it now are crap.

I have a ZX spectrum, all set up with a cassette recorder. Still works perfectly.

I've also still got the Rediffusion portable telly I bought when I got my first promotion at work. That must have been around 1980. The picture is perfect!

I bought a calculator years ago and have never put batteries into it. In fact it does not need them as it is solar powered and takes just a few seconds in light to get it operating.

My Mum had to finally get rid of her fridge last year after more than 50 years (50's Frigidaire, the first one with a magnetic door. It hadn't had a light for years.
My fridge freezer hasn't one either but still runs (fingers crossed) after 32 years!

I have a 13 year old Volkswagen Golf, it's better built than anything I've ever owned and that includes a BMW, Rover, Toyota and Mitsubishi.I would not buy anything new until it's proved itself, let the mugs buy new and test stuff for you !

I have a Casio too,it's a combined Calculator/Travel Alarm Clock,which I bought in 1978!
I sent an email to Casio Customer Service complimenting then,but no reply.
So their products may be good,but their customer service isn't.LOL

Our JVC VCR (yes we still have one!!) is probably about 21 and has only recently started playing up. Other old stuff that still works in our house is a Philips electric mixer at 25 years old and my dad!

ooh yes, my Rover Knightsbridge is 14 and still gets me to uni and back (25 miles each way) 3 or 4 times a week!
