Apparently "our delusions of granduer at winning the war are a greater cross to bear than German guilt over the Nazis" - So Nick Clegg would rather we lost the war and presumably would have preferred Nazi rule to what we have now. Is Clegg setting a new level for Anti Britishness? Can anyone seriously consider voting lib dem after this tresonous statement?

Just to please the anti Daily Mail Brigade, a link from the Guardian.

Reading through this it seems that pro-German Clegg can't give the British not one iota of support. Do we need him to head a British political party?
I'm pro-German. Does that mean I'm anti-British?

FYI - the war ended in 1945.
aog - did you actualy read it. 1) Its not pro - german 2) It doesn't support your argument.

Basicaly he is saying that our attitude to Germany (frannce) isn't helping us do business and we have to change our mind set.
If we didn't have to pay for 6 recent wars under Blair maybe we would have had more money and could compete in other areas with Germany. What have we gained personally as a country? Nothing but hate and more terrorism.

We are not fighting in Afghanistan to protect the UK, as usually quoted, but only creating a fermenting pot to encourage Muslims to attack us.

Some of our leaders seemed to have suffered from delusions of grandeur. Its time we came back to earth.
Do you seriously think our fighting in Afghanistan has no benefit to th UK whatsoever ?

What difference does that make, slavery was abolished in Britain in 1807, but that wouldn't stop you and others from bringing slavery up at every possible moment.

The point is did you actually read it.

/// They all blithely overlook that Germany's wealth per head remains a full 6% higher than in the UK. That German workers are 29% more productive than their British counterparts. That German trade with other EU countries has shot up in recent years, while Britain's trade with the euro zone stagnates. That Germany has engineered one of the world's most ambitious economic transformations in the former East Germany. Not even the most blinkered British visitor to Germany's prosperous towns and cities, to its schools, hospitals and its transport system, could pretend that our quality of life is comparable to German standards. ///

Seems pretty pro-German to me.
Would you describe yourself as anti-German, AOG?

I know how patriotic you are.
so do you think the facts he states are incorrect, aog?
Let's not forget we were on our own for two years. It was this country that bore the brunt of the the Luftwaffe attacks plus flying bombs and VII rockets.

The USA didn't come into the war until they were attacked by Japan. Had they not been attacked they may never have come in.

The Soviet Union were Allies of the Germans when they jointly attacked Poland.
The Soviets didn't come into the war until they were themselves attacked by Germany
.Had they not been attacked they would have remained allied with the Germans.
///Clegg tells us we are worse than the Nazis///

AOG please post the quote where Clegg actually said this.

Otherwise, you are a stinkin' liar. And a blatantly stupid one at that.
///Not even the most blinkered British visitor to Germany's prosperous towns and cities, to its schools, hospitals and its transport system, could pretend that our quality of life is comparable to German standards. ///

Seems pretty pro-German to me. ///

Please explain - which part of wanting/expecting/striving for standards of living for british people comparable with those enjoyed by Germans is anti-british or unpatriotic?

You are either mischievous or moronic. Which?

Even Geezer is showing signs of Tory desperation.

Why did you put "We Are Worse Than The Nazi's" and "our delusions of granduer at winning the war are a greater cross to bear than German guilt over the Nazis" in quotes. Those were not the words used by Clegg. Try reading his actual words in context.
