Is saying the Tories won and that the public would hate some "cobbled together deal" and that the public would abhor some sort of leader parachuted in to replace Gordon to cling to power. Don't often agree with Diane but I think she is correct here.Is she?

tell me the last time anyone got 50%, Brionon, what a titfer tat!
Indeed. Even on that glorious May Day evening in 1997 we only got 43% of the votes, despite winning 418 seats. This is why the Lib Dems (and some of the other minor parties) are so keen on proportional representation...
Heaven forbid we should have a legislature that actually represents the electorate.

If we did our government might be 'paralysed' which seems to be a glib way of saying that a bunch of politicians (those people we love, respect and trust so much) won't be able to get into action pushing through a load of extreme policies hardly anyone wants that later on turn out to be of dubious benefit.

Thatcher? Blair? I think I'll curb my enthusiasm for politicians and settle for a bit of consensus and paralysis.
