No, it wouldn't put me off flying at all.
As I've got older, the things I don't like about flying is what McMouse has expressed! I find the waiting about, any delays, sitting like sardines in a tin & not being able to stretch your legs out straight, very off-putting. It also plays havoc with my sinuses!
If we worried about what goes on on the road, we'd never venture out in ous cars. I really enjoy driving & seeing accidents wouldn't put me off doing that!

I too hate the whole air travel experience these days, not because of fear of accidents, but, again like McMouse, because of all the hassle (which never used to happen). If you have a good holiday abroad then by the time you reach home after all the travel through airports, etc. you need another holiday. Hence we went to Devon this year instead of our beloved Algarve.
You are in danger everywhere, and statistically more likely to get killed in an accident at home.
You can't live your life in a bubble.

Yes, we did the same last year Lottie & spent two glorius weeks in Dorset!
It was bliss driving there, rather than all the kerfuffle when travelling to our fav' Cyprus.
Yes it was rather expensive, but at least we felt like we'd had a holiday after the two weeks - which is more than I can say after getting home from airports!

i have been knocked about on previous occasions on ab regarding this topic....
we all know about statistics
i am sure the 100 or so people aboard this plane will take great comfort from the fact that flying is the safest way to travel and so presumably is the safest way to die
with the odds at 50:50 (you either crash or you dont) it amazes me that people want to hurtle off to all ends of the globe within an airplane that they have no control over
mmm... averages and statistics eh?
they mean nothing and are of little actual re-assurance and comfort
reminds me of the man out shooting rabbits..
his first shot misses in front of the rabbit,
his second shot misses behind the rabbit,
so he packs up his gun to leave and when questioned why,
he states ' on average the rabbit is dead'.

good afternoon R1
you say 'when its your turn its your turn'
admitted travelling around is a necessity of normal life
flying for most people is not a necessity but a choice in pursuit of happiness
you pays your money and takes your choice
there is no chance i will be part of aviation death statistics
unless a plane crashes on my head

in fact chelsea and portsmouth each have a 50% chance of winning the fa cup
bookmakers will disagree though, they give odds mostly based on statistics and opinions.................just like responses to this topic
if portsmouth win that will also be little comfort to the distraught chelsea contingent
i note the plane crash statistics but dont place a bet through choice
the lottery jackpot odds are 14 million to one and millions take part through choice
an unnecessary plane ticket is a long shot i see no need to buy

.....Back again - sorry Geezer went out after I posted & just got back in.
We stay at Osmington Mills Holiday Park, nr Weymouth. It's a really beautiful place. We used to stay there when our girls were little - Caravan No. 65 by a little brook. We always reserve Caravan No. 65, but is upgraded every two years! It's an 8 berth one & when you walk inside, it's like being in a bungalow, with all mod cons & super shower room! We took our eldest daughter with us last year, as she'd been through a really rough time, Our two little granddaughters really enjoy the heated swimming pool too!
My sister & bro-in-law were camping a few miles up the road & we met up a few times & had fun together. We all love Dorset & you're very lucky to live there!
