Whereas I agree that anyone visiting a mosque or any other Religious building should respect the particular dress code.
What I don't agree with that these pupils were forced to attend or be marked as a truant, as regards paying for the privilege that takes the biscuit. If there is a charge then the visit should be voluntary.
What I would like to know, was the trip the mind child of the Headmaster or not?

I think I agree with susie. I really think the woman is over-reacting. The girl is not being asked to 'dress like a muslim', but merely to have the good manners to follow a dress code. I take it her mother would ask her to dress respectfully for mass? Where's the problem?
The charge was, as the letter states, voluntary, and parents were free not to give permission for their kids to go. So it goes down as unauthorised absence - so what? Unless the girl is a regular truant then it's hardly going to stand up in court.
Pity the child from one school who went on a visit to a mosque only to realise, when they got there, that she had forgotten to take her scarf. Only thing was, her father was the Imam!

Some years ago while in Hawaii we visited the polynesian cultural centre,a vast area with all the cultures of the south pacific,it was a tiresome day and at the end of it was a theatrical show,before that started we had some time on our hands so we jumped on a bus which said mystery tour,all free and part of the tour,when we got to where we was going it pulled up outside this magnificent mormon temple in beautiful grounds,everyone on the bus went inside the temple except me I refused to do so on principal because of their way of thinking.Should be everyones choice wether they enter or not.
