Ground Zero Mosque ?
The Telegraph reports an ambitious plan to build a mosque next to New York's Ground Zero has angered residents of the city.
“Supporters of the project say the planned multi-storey Islamic centre would transform both the drab lower Manhattan street and the way Americans have interacted with Muslims since nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks on September 11, 2001.
Boasting a mosque with sports facilities, a theatre and possibly day care, the centre would be open to all visitors to demonstrate that Muslims are part of their community, not some separate element.
But because of the proposed mosque's location, just around the corner from the gaping Ground Zero hole, the plan has upset some locals. A protest site says the centre will "cast a rude shadow over Ground Zero." Others compared the idea to building a German cultural centre at Auschwitz.
"Spitting in the Face of Everyone Murdered on 9/11," writes Blitz, a self-described "anti-jihadist newspaper." That level of anger is not uncommon among New Yorkers who blame Islam, rather than just Al-Qaeda or other militant groups, for 9/11 and the global confrontation with the United States.”
Is the Plan the equivalent of “building a German cultural centre at Auschwitz”
or
a worthwhile demonstration that Muslims are a welcome part of the New York community ?

Sounds antagonistic to me. Hopefully the septics will have more bottle than us. We'd probably pay for it then allow one handed terrorists to hide in it

"I think there are at least 6 mosques/islamic centres etc in Manhattan. None of them appear to be tucked away, isn't that integrated?"
If youre right then yes there is already a degree of integration but it looks as though the New York Muslims are looking for further improved facilities, perhaps to accommodate a growing population - but the real question is still do you see the ordinary Muslims of New York conjoined with or separate to the Islamic Terrorists of 9/11 ?

Dutch, when you first posted this I assumed you were making a statement and the question was rhetorical, however you seem worryingly resolute in thinking there is nothing amiss in building a Mosque on that site. There is a search box here and I've read your other posts so I know you're no fool - why pretend now?
This has to be a wind up.
O.K I'll be dumb too and spell it out for you.
The world trade centre, an iconic symbol of western capitalism and democracy, brought down in an extreme act by Muslims is to be replaced with a Mosque, think about it. There's no coincidence here. Can you not appreciate the symbolic victory, the justification for terrorist action against the west?
Bloody hell dutch!

They're not building the Mosque on ground Zero but around the corner - But the question no one is answering is are ordinary Muslims in New York guilty in any way at all for the 9/11 atrocity. Is it fair to equate New York Muslims with Al-Qaeda ? What do you think on this question? Is it not a reasonable question ?
There seems to be divided opinion in New York on the matter
I agree that if New York Muslims are Al-Qaeda sympathisers or anti American then no way should the Mosque Complex be built !
