Nice effort. It makes a change from 'the Nasty Left' - that term you've been trying to introduce into common usage, for years and years. With spectacularly unsuccessful results.
Why is it that short (arses) like Willie Walsh have the Napoleon syndrone. He is drivng the company into liquidation. Jaw-jaw not war-war is not part of his vocabulary.
On the contrary I think he is trying to save the company.
The company can't exist at its present state, without some harsh measures and cuts. Just like this country certain unpopular preventive measures must be taken or we are all in the mess.
The past pampered staff of BA, must learn to take their share of cuts, to help prevent the demise of BA. If not they may shortly find themselves out of a very nice lucrative occupation.
The union leader seems to think this is 1973 and he's Red Rbbo! "Why doesn't the management just give in to our demands?" The unions will destroy the jobs completely in the end.
I quite understood your reference and wasn't disputing it, hence my comment. And less of the nasty left where I'm concerned I'm usually more nasty right.
Perhaps they're worried their Union was about to sell them short.
It's hard to believe anything you hear about this dispute as both sides are playing the media for all they're worth. But it sounds as if the majority of issues have been resolved and they're just fighting over the punative measures against strikers such as withdrawal of travel priviledges.
They may also be hoping that the BA shareholders will have had enough of Walsh's macho management methods and wil replace him if things continue in this fashion.
One of the principle roles of a chief executive is to introduce change - if he can't do this without endangering the survival of his company he's a bad chief executive.
Reminiscient of the British car industry isn't it?
We still have British people making cars in Britain
We don't have British companies making cars in Britain
Why can British workers work perfectly well with foreign management but not with British management?
That should (sadly) tell you something about British management.
Aggression is rarely part of my make up. My "cap fits" comment was aimed at the his holiness in Rome, my "less of the nasty..." comment was meant to be tongue in cheek humour.
Wind me up enough and I'll get aggressive but your miles off at the monent. Still friends?
