The relationship between the USA and Israel must be the only example ever of the tail wagging the dog.
Israel depends on billions of American dollars, and weapons, yet continues to ignore all advice from their patrons to moderate their behaviour.
Israel has a right to defend itself.
Don't remember that, good job the Russian boat was in the area.
Nobody denies that waterboatman

However it's the way it does so that everybody has a problem with.

It is hugely disproportionate and usually involves killing civillians

What's it going to take for you to accept that they've gone to far? A nuclear bomb?

Or would you justify even that?
I agree with you sandyRoe but query:
#must be the only example ever of the tail wagging the dog. #.

Most countries support their friends. China and Iran support North Korea ,
South Africa and most African States support Zimbabwe. Russia supports Cuba a fact that nearly started a WW III. Russia and China support the South American dictators .

Without this support most of these countries would collapse or be forced to change their policies and Israel is the most flagrant example.

So sandyRoe what would you do about Israel ?
As a leading member, Turkey could expect NATO to act with it in defence of its vessels in International waters.

I wonder which side the US would take, NATO's or Israel's
Which dictators do Russia and China support?
Noriega?
Pinochet?
Galtieri?
South America's hardly a continent within which we've bathed ourselves in glory.
Turkey's actually been one of the few Muslim countries to get on with Israel (possibly because it too takes a harsh line with opposition). But Israel has always been content to offend both friends and enemies as long as it gets its own way.

D'you know, I've never really reached a satisfactory conclusion, in my own mind, about my thoughts regarding Israel and the Palestinians ?

I vacillate with every new report issued and find myself "yes, but"-ting a great deal of the time..........
Modeller, "What would you do about Israel?" you ask.
If all the stolen land was returned to its proper owners Israel would not be a viable state. The Americans are great supporters of Israel. I'm sure they'd be happy to accommodate any Israelis who wanted to settle there.
Israel would still be viable if Washington kept on pouring money into it, sandy. Jack, I suspect the two-state solution is the only option left. The Palestinians' land was stolen at the end of the war, and they've been second-class citizens, or none, ever since. I think they're as entitled to a homeland as the Jews are, though of course the Jews were promised one by God and the Palestinians were not.
sandyRoe I do like your ideas they are so realistic.
# If all the stolen land was returned to its proper owners #

Now are you just picking on Israel or are you being fair minded and would want this to apply to # all the stolen land # in the world .?
