It is not a case of shooting anything that moves, most gun owners are selective when out hunting and are professional in their attitude when taking a shot to cause least suffering to their quarry.
JTH. You asked me 'Why'. The reason is that the topic was raised early in this thread about the reviewing of gun laws and as several people on here have pointed out, by reviewing gun laws (which apply obviously only to licensed guns) it will do nothing to prevent gun crime whatsoever and will infact increase the amount of illegally held weapons which will decrease the ability to trace the ownership of guns.
So you don't wish to talk about this because you think it is irrelevant to the topic. Perhaps others do.

jack i am glad you have answered my question , the farmer i have met will not have a gun at his house, when he has a problem he gets a person in from the local town.
this person has a licence and is a marksman and works on a few farms.
not all farmers like guns but they need the use of them on their land.

I find, generally, that the voices agin gun laws are those of people who themselves have some sort of interest in them.
I would be quite content to see guns kept either at a gun-club, or a police-station, where access is reasonably controlled...........
LL - I'm not being awkward for the sake of it. Every time there is an attempt to discuss controls on legally-held weapons, it meanders off into illegal weapons, gun culture, yardies, drug dealers, Russian mafia............
I was trying to point out that this tragedy occured via a licensed gun-owner and legal weapons...........surely whatever vested interests you have, you can see that ?

As I see it, it's not a question of who owns a gun & who doesn't, it all boils down to getting people into psychiatric care who show signs of mental disturbance, & once again it appears that the appropriate authorities failed. This guy knew there was something wrong with him & apparently was ignored when he asked for help.Take heed it will happen again.
