These two might be a little bit closer to the line of succession, but it's only a very little bit - it should be the same for all the Royal children. I understand it for Harry and Wills as they (with Charles) are the next 3 at the moment, but not for all the rest, Zara and Peter Phillips are no different from Andrew's daughters.
I read in the paper the other day that a person who was Northern Ireland minister 30 years ago still gets police protection.
Same article said Tony Blair's protection still costs 6 milion a year (not sure if it is true).
I wonder what the total cost of "protection" is for all the people that get it.

Craft. They both swan around with their mother a lot and going to discos etc.,they will have no useful role even when they've finished college, (not boarding by the look of it). Apart from William and Harry I don't see why they would want to be protected, what for? .As far as I know the other grandchildren aren't.
>as of 2003/4, the crown gave 179.3 million pounds to the treasury, the money coming from tourism
Are you sure?
The money given by the Crown to the treasury is from the Crown Estates, land owned by the Crown and money earned from that land.
There is no doubt the royal family do bring in SOME money from tourism, but if the royal family disappeared tomorrow I doubt tourism would drop by very much.
Of course it could be asked where the crown estate got it lands from in the first place.
Gained by all sorts of methods over the centuries (war, stealing it, etc etc).
As it is "our" land I think it about time the crown gave it back to "us".
