However, there is a trial to be held first and then we shall see what we shall see. He has a tragic, wasted life whatever the outcome but unless he seeks and end to it himself, we'll just have to come to terms with living on the same planet as him.

You don't believe our court system system should operate on innocent until proven guilty then
Is that in general? or only in cases where you have been whipped up into a self-righteous vengeful fury by the toads in the media
I mean please correct me if you have any connection or knowledge of this you didn't gain from TV or the Newspapers
Information that would even begin to put you in a position to make in impartial judgement
Or do you not do impartial?

Was he born evil?
There is no evidence to suggest that there is an "evil gene"
So what has made him evil?
It can only be his environment during his early years and can you blame him for that?
How did he get child pornography whilst being under "correction?" This is "child" pornography not the common or garden bog standard pornography.
It would seem to me that corrective punishment has been totally ineffective and should be reviewed.

Jake, I roundly applaud your efforts to provide a voice of reason as the usual tiradem sweeps through the AB, as it always does when emotive issues like this are raised.
Flyboy - you are allowing your emotional response to the cruel death of an innocent child to prevent you from seeing this situation in the only way that we - as memoers of society - should, which is with the belief that our justice system will prevail and punishment, if appropriate, will be forthcoming.
I find the notion that we execute people because their life is a drain on the public purse to be chilling in the extreme.
Stop spenidng money on nuclear weapons to save money? Fine. Executing individuals on the basis that they don't deserve to live, nased on base instinct and media hype - I don't think so.

Sqad - I was replying to flyboy1664. "....... if you think any ounce of him is good ..."
The nature/nurture theories on the 'development of evil' are many and often contradictory. What *are* established facts are that Venables killed a small defenceless child in a truly horrible manner; that we do not have the death penalty in this country.
What remains to be established is whether Venables is guilty as charged with these latest offences. (I rather think he is..........)
