........ . football match happening this weekend , involving Germany and England .

Some one has looked at the stats relating to the success rate of penalty shoots outs of the two teams

Germany - 94 %

England 50 %

Apparently also ,going on past matches England has a 1.4 % ( rounded up ) chance of beating Germany .

Is it going to be another case of Deja Vu

Stats do not win football matches - they exist only because games have been won/lost by the players on the pitch.

It will, for unstatistical reasons, definitely be a case of Deja Vu, but only because Germany have played far better so far than England who all but staggered into the Last 16. 3-0 Germany, folks?
My predictions for England's matches thus far have all been completely wrong.

I'm going for England 3 - 1 Germany.
In your dreams gromit.
Two Wars and One World Cup,
Doo Dah, Doo Dah
3-1 germany
Thats more like it rowanwitch.
I think 2-1 Germany. Early goal by England, 8th minute say.

Equalizer before half time. Final goal at 60 min mark.

What have I said! Germany 3 - England 1
Thats several times ive heard the World War being brought into it -think taking it just a tad too far hmm?

Ive also been listening to the pundits and they refer to penalties all the time and not the actual match -does that mean that they think Englands only chance is to get through on penalties?

I think England will give them a run for their money and it will be a tight match with not a lot of goals so im going 1-0 Germany.
it's got 1-1/penalty shoot out written all over it! Start practising lads

So you all think we will have a result at the end of normal play ; without the need for the dreaded penalty shootout
As a football fan yes i would far rather that the best team got through on the day and it wasnt just down to luck.

By the way spare Ed - This is the first time you have contributed on one of my post - i feel honoured - i think :-)
I'd much rather that England get hammered 6 - 0 than play out a dismal draw and go out on penalties again.
I'll be placing a large bet on the draw tomorrow to try and jinx that outcome.
Berti - I also featured this on twitter and facebook (which you may have noticed if you're a friend of AB on either!)

I think there is a habit of England going out on penalties Dris? I think most of us would like to see the game end through actual play rather than submit ourselves to the stress of penalties!

Spare Ed
I think England are planning for penalties, they're going to have Ricky Hatton and Ben Shepherd on the bench.

Tell you what - why dont you footy fans , join me and watch the F1 instead , thus avoiding the anxiety of sitting through the football ?
Very difficult one to call.

England have been far from convincing but at least the last game was a seachange improvement over the Algeria game. I'd like to see a bit more decisiveness in front of goal.

That said, Germany have been far from impressive either - the Austrailia result flattered them, they were convincingly outplayed by Serbia and scraped through against Ghana.

They have a pretty inexperienced international side compared to England, plus England always seem to up their game when required.

I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to English football and rugby and I honestly believe we will win in normal time.

2-1.
I'll watch both, I have picture in picture!
