I care neither one way nor another that he is dead (as Gazza said he could have been in out in 12yrs cos he only killed one person ...........W TF?)

Anyway I have followed this and the police categorically denied deploying a Taser.

They have now admitted they did at the time of his death.

How much confidence do you have in the police (if you had any anyway beforehand) now?

I know Police to be the same as the rest of us-they cheat and lie -they are human.

What still rankles me is that policewoman sniggering on the TV last night when her colleague was reading out a card saying he was a nutter -that could have had horrendous consequences.

i once gave a witness statement for a missing tourist and said i hope ive been of help and the Policeman said the longer the better for us and rubbed his fingers like more dosh !!

I have no faith-what about you?

"Moat was, in my opinion a victim of this country's corrupt policing system"

?????

The police made him kill his ex-girlfriend's new bloke, and shoot and seriously injure his ex-girlfriend and a policeman did they?

I don't feel an ounce of sympathy for him or scum like him
As has already been said, not ALL of the police force are corrupt. This whole sorry saga has cost the tax payers millions already, why do we need an enquiry into who did what or even a second post mortem? He killed a man in cold blood, and seriously injured two others. He didnt deserve to walk this earth and breath the same air as other law abiding citizens. Whatever the police had done wouldnt have been right in everyones book, but as far as I am concerned, they should have shot him on first sight as soon as they had a positive ID.
Question Author
jules-its called living in a democracy.
He was as entitled to a fair trial as you or I.We dont as a rule shoot first and ask questions later.
Anyway still think theres been a lot of lies and the Police are back pedalling furiously.
Whether it's right or wrong of me to think this way, but in this particular case I personally don't care whether the police lied or not. The guy's dead, and I can't help but think its a blessing that he is.

The only pity is for the poor guy he shot, the ex girlfriend and the cost of this whole sorry affair.
Dris - Fair trial??? He wasnt on the run carrying a gun for nothing.

As for bibblebub saying his girlfriend deserved to be shot because she lied is bizarre, some people amaze me.
That is not what I was saying - I was paraphrasing the previous poster who was saying that it was the girlfriend's fault for lying (or so they said) and that Moat was the victim in all this. Moat was the scum to whom I was referring.
there are victims in this sorry played out drama
an innocent bloke got shot and killed, another innocent bloke, policeman or not, has been shot and will suffer life changing consequences,
a girl gets shot because she thought by saying she was going out with a Northumbrian copper, he (Moat) would back off, infact all it did was inflame a very jealous mind, then there are the families of everyone concerned including Mr Moats family who witnessed the shot live on TV..
these are the forgotten victims in this
I apologise Bibblebub, there really needs to be an option on here so you can quote another persons post!
Thanks jules77 for having another look at the thread, I'd hate anyone to go away with the impression that I would be anything like as dreadful as that initial impression suggested to you.
Mountainboo -

Where do I start?

Your ridiculous quote is probably a good place..., “.... I fear that those in the police force who genuinely do want to make a difference, protect citizens and uphold the law are now in the minority”

On what basis and on what evidence do you make a statement such as this?

You've never been in the police service. That is absolutely clear.

I have.

In any organisation you find people who you don't get along with for whatever reason. But to effectively call the majority of police officers corrupt is beyond the pale.

How dare you write such an unsubstantiated and insulting post about the very people who come running to help when everyone else runs the other way? These are people who deliberately put themselves in harm's way so that armchair critics such as yourself can sleep soundly in their beds. You can criticise the police until the cows come home but both you and I know exactly who you'll be calling if (God forbid) you hear some uninvited guests in your house at night.

These people risk their lives to save others.
I wonder what you do for a living?
Gazza said he was a gentleman and a good bloke, so it must be true!!!!!
Looks to me like UK police using a taser when really necessary as opposed to US police using them willynilly.
wot was the point of the tazers? Why not use a police dog? Looks like some cops were trigger happy because a policeman was shot.

Had the police heeded early warnings from Moat & gf, we may not have known this saga.
tambo, if you listen to the audio footage when the gunshot(s) were fired..and the screaming by Moat....you can hear someone shouting "Get the dogs away" they were obviously lapping up the remains of his head
omg...I didn't hear that Elvis - and don't want to hear it again. The scream was enough for nightmares.
I find it unbelievable that so many fly to the defence of a man with a history of violence, a drug dealer, a wife beater , a murderer . A man who has ruined the lives of so many but now flowers and tributes are being paid to him and what do we hear from so many ABers ? Comdemnation of the police !
modeller many of my friends are in the Northumbrian Force, they are appalled at how they have been turned on in this
Moats now being touted as a 'Police Informer'...........that ought to take the shine off, in some circles.
he's being hero worshipped by the 'dregs' up here jack
it's sick!
i thing in the past being in the police was perhaps more of a vocation. people joined because they truly believed in it and wanted to dedciate their lives to it..in much the same nursing used to be...

now policing and nursing are just jobs...a way to make a living...their heart is not in it...hence why a fair few are corrupt and abuse their power.

i know about 6 nurses...and not one of them gives a toss about the patients, and regualrly laugh and express their dislike for the job... they just do it to get paid...
