Paid to Get Dressed In The Morning

"[Policeman] Martin Schauder calculated, to the second, how long it took him to put on his trousers, truncheon-holding belt, weapon and gas canister, overshirt, tunic, boots, hat and gloves. Fifteen minutes every morning, it took him, and the same each night – so he argued, in what might be described as a slightly Germanic way, that he should be given a pay rise, or time off in lieu, to compensate for those extra 45 hours. A court in Münster agreed, and gave him the holiday."

Do you think employee's should be paid for the time it take them to get ready in the morning? Especially if it is a longer than average process? How long does it take you to get ready for work? And more to the point - why start with getting dressed, what about the commute?

Errr no... we all have to get dressed. If it's that much of a bother for him then choose another job!

It takes me an hour and a half to get showered/wash/condition/dry/dress/make up/eat on a morning, less if I rush.

what about if the office relocates ?

I think a good employer will compensate people for a specified time period if the commute is significantly increased or give an exit package if people choose to leave the company.

I'm not sure what - if any - of these are legal requirements, it's a long time since i've been involved in an office move of any great distance.
