What's the best way to protect women against the violent urges of some men?
I read recently that one of the few areas where crime figures are on the rise is in the area of domestic violence.
Serious question - has any of the male AB'ers ever raised their fists to a woman, and if so, why?
Is this an unspoken epidemic?
Do any of the female AB'ers know of situations of domestic violence, and how did they or their loved ones deal with it?

It's not perfect, but it seems to be the best method we've managed to come up with.

I HAVE had experience (see my post from 14:38).
"Let me ask you something, have you ever slapped your boyfriend?"
Absolutely not. In 11 years it hasn't even crossed my mind. You may as well ask be whether I'd skinned a pet alive. It's just something outside my area of consciousness.
The moment your loved one raises your hand to you, the relationship (in my opinion) is dead in the water.

I found this interesting, if sadly predictable:
Surge in domestic abuse cases coincides with England's World Cup exit
http://www.guardian.c...rge-england-world-cup
"On 27 June, when England were defeated 4-1 by Germany, Greater Manchester police logged 353 incidents of domestic violence.
A spokesman for the force said the figure was the second highest recorded so far this year — and 15.7% higher than the same day last year."

it cuts both ways sp, granted lesser cases but still cases, my friend used to suffer physical and mental abuse from his druggie wife, he used to keep it together for that sake of the kids, she eventually left and he is bringing up the kids alone but it has wrecked his and the kids lives, he does not trust women at all.

I had a vile temper when i was young and a very strong but gentle husband.... I threw plates, pans and knives at him and once stuck a dinner fork in his thigh...the most he ever did in response was pick me up kicking and screaming and dump me in the bedroom until I calmed down....I learned self control I had to....
But the worse beating I ever took was from another woman....its all across the spectrum I'm afraid..and the sad thing is the number of times people are forgiven just to do it over again....I could not be violent now...it frightens me too much
