The Vatican has launched a crackdown on tourists wearing skimpy clothing.

The tough dress code is applied to people using the Vatican's pharmacy, supermarket and post office.

The Guards drew aside men in shorts and women with uncovered shoulders and short skirts to tell them that they were not dressed properly.

Can we all support this ban, and hope that it is extended to visitors to our supermarkets and post offices?

This is just an example of re-establishing their power . The RC Church has lost a lot of respect and power because of the paedophilia scandal and so we can expect them to throw their weight about to try to get it back. Religion is all about the clerics having power over the people.
So the more rules, rituals and regulations you can impose the more powerful you become.
Jake, Ha ha! Nick Griffin at Buck House in a mini skirt - or even not at Buck House in a mini skirt? Oh, purrrlease!!

And an amusing attempt to take a moral stance, by an organisation which has shown itself to possess the morals of a sewer rat.

Well Beau Brummell started it all - there was quite a little style war going on in the beginning of the 19th Century.

I Imagine Wellington was trying to "get down with the yoofs" or "hang with the monkeys"
jake ...

I think the correct grammar is ...

"hang wiv da monkeys"
jj well corrected - I believe rats to be excellent family animals.
Yes, apparently so, boxy.

Rats do protect their young (rather than raping them).

So ... Rats 1-0 Priests
When I visited the Vatican, I covered up my shoulders and wore crops, I wouldn't insult them by not doing this, same in Israel, when we went the the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and to the Wailing Wall, I covered up and wore a elbow sleeved mid calf dress and Bill had dress trousers and a shirt on as a mark of respect to the place were were at.
So my thong bikini, flip flops and bling sunnies were not appropriate ?

I might get one of those long black hats that trails all the way down to your feet, with little holes for your eyes, popular in Afghanistan.
If you dont want to follow the dress code for the Vatican go to the Colessium instead
