So the typical British image has changed from the bowler hat, brief case, and rolled up umbrella carrying city gent, to the tea swigging, cloth cap pensioners on mobility scooters.
That is according to our loveable neighbours across the Channel, the French.
When asked to pick “French” images, 71 per cent of British chose the cheese, 57 per cent champagne and 31 per cent a Tour de France racer.
Do you agree, or have you your own ideas?

Gromit Haven't you the brains to know that mobility scooters are for people who do not enjoy the gift of being able to walk?
Thus not being able to walk, they also cannot run or jog, so consequently those who need to do such things to keep the weight off, are often accused by bigots such as you, as being obese.
Incidentally, please enlighten me, haven't other countries also got an ageing population, or are they all 'Peter Pans'?

///Notice I said "us" and not "your fellow country men"///
Gromit has been expelled from our nation for writing something that someone disagreed with!
It must be great having the power to do that.
It must be like issuing a Fatwah.
Rather un-British really.
Or is it just pomposity and a delusion of power?

/// From my observation, mobility scooters are not used by the young, they are predominantly used by the old. Disabled people used wheelchairs. People with a mobility impairment but who are not disabled use them. That is mainly old people. ///
Now let us try and make some sense of this.
/// From my observation, mobility scooters are not used by the young, they are predominantly used by the old.///
Mainly because it is the old that have mobility problems, hips, knees, backs just wearing out, but can walk a few yards with the aid of a stick
The young if they are permanently disabled generally go for motorised wheel chairs these days, this gets them around their homes as well as outside.
If the young are temporary disabled, it stands to reason they would not lash out thousands of pounds for a scooter, for short term mobility.
