it's an odd way to pay tribute to a son, kind of casting his fate to the winds, but rather lovely.. and I'm glad it turned out well. (But I'm not sure you can say it 'wasn't for someone else to find'... messages in bottles are either going to be found by somebody or nobody, and I'm sure she knew this.)

Very moving story, what a lovely gesture by the workers to write their own letter of tribute. None of us agree with war or want war, that goes without saying, but this is a Mum's message to a lovely young man, and as someone with a son-in-law in the army, who has done 2 tours in Afghanistan, I can see why she did it.
