/// Firing guns into the air is a common occurrence during celebrations both in Turkey and across the Middle East.///

This is the country that Cameron wants in the EU, so later they can infiltrate into the UK.

I'm not seeing any problem with this particular Turkish custom. Any Turks that do come to the UK will be fully aware that they cannot use guns in that way here.

When have you known of the tolerant British, interfering into their immigrants culture?
It is not a common occurrence as stated in the Daily Mail. I have attended wedding celebrations in Turkey and never see anything like that.

Turkey is a relatively modern country, and has been westernised for a century. It is a strong player in NATO.

Cameron is correct in wanting Turkey to join the European family. The alternative is that Turkey looks east and Turkey falls to the fundamentalists of the middle east. Which would mean they would be a thousand miles near to us than they are now.

Firing guns into the air at funerals was a common practice in Britain until quite recently -in Northern Ireland at least.
.
This thread is insane.
Your post, not for the first time AoG, is confusing - to me at least.

Are you accusing Cameron of being a 5th columnist, working for Turkey ?

Or are you implying that Cameron is naive, and that Turkeys long held political ambition to join the EU is merely a cover for their dastardly plan to "infiltrate the UK"?
Either scenario is a bit of a reach, even for you AoG.

And above all else, the reason we should be worried about Turkeys entrance to the EU is because some prat who cannot handle a gun very nearly deprived himself of his nearest and dearest? We have turks over here now - I havent heard of any such similar incidents over here.

Your paranoia is getting the better of you AoG.
Its not just Turkey I am worried about although that is serious. All the Muslims in the Middle East could converge on Turkey, and use this country as a staging post for free movement within the EU including Britain.
What planet are you on Rov?
Don't just take my word for it:
Turkey captures over 500,000 illegal immigrants in past 10 years

Turkish Police Director General Gokhan Aydiner announced on Monday that more than 500,000 illegal immigrants have been captured in the country over the past 10 years.

In an interview with local private NTV, Aydiner said, "The transportation of 575,516 illegal immigrants via Turkey has been hindered and 6,113 human traffickers from 39 different countries have been captured since 1995."

Aydiner also said that the operations against illegal immigrants have been continuing, adding that during the last two years alone, 491 victims were saved from human traffickers and sent back to their native countries.

According to Aydiner, women and children formed the bulk of human trafficking victims.

Turkey is located on a main route of illegal immigrants.

Each year, thousands of illegal immigrants from Asia, the Middle East, Africa and eastern Europe attempt to sneak into wealthy western European countries via Turkey.

Besides the position of being a "transit country", Turkey has gradually become a "target country" with more and more illegal immigrants entering Turkey via sea, air and land from Asian and African countries
