Amazing woman who doesnt court publicity. She and her husband are so grounded-he still works as a Registrar at St. Johns Hospital in Livingston (well he did last I heard !).
Heartwarming gesture -believe she lost her Mum to MS :(
its great to read a ''good news story'' for a change what a fantastic gesture off her ok she might be 1 of the worlds richest women but she didnt have to give anything did she?
Ive just Wiki'd her and she is a 'silent' philanthropist which makes me admire her more given she has given far more than stated albeit surreptiously. I really admire her.
yep good on her but good on my next door neighbour who although on a pension gives to age concern every month x it doesnt matter how much you give just that you do it xx
Such people as your neighbour will never be on any celebrity listing zzxxee. It is as well that the various charities understand from whence their support comes.
She does indeed seem a kind person, Ive also read that she gave £22 million to comic relief. Not bad for a struggling writer who drank cold coffees in cafe's for hours as she wrote as her daughter Jessica sleeping in a buggy beside her whilst she was living? (Struggling) on £70 a week benefits, and her flat was infested with mice.
Brilliant news and I am sure the publicity of her gesture will raise awarness of the condition.
I wonder if Abdullah of Saudi Arabia knows about the floods in Pakistan? The reason I ask is becuse we are all aware of the contributions made by our own governments and the other aid agencies but I have yet to hear about the aid given by one of the richest families in the world to the near neighbours
