Has Pastor Terry Jones given Osama Bin Laden, an early Christmas present?
Not nearly as silly as it sounds here, Pastor Jones is having a Koran burning ceremony in a little corner of Florida on Saturday, meanwhile thousands of miles away we have young men and women fighting in Afghanistan to rid the world of terrorism!
Already Muslims in Afghanistan and Pakistan have taken to the streets to protest and quite frankly I don't blame them, this 'man of the cloth' and I use the term loosely, wants arresting for inciting trouble...which will have far reaching consequences

"speak up and do what Nosha? "
thats what I meant by this preacher burning the Koran.. thats his way of speaking up... I'm not saying its right - but its him standing up for his religious beliefs and his God and his people.
I guess he also wants to offend the Muslim world too in the way that he perhaps feels offended by 9/11
(of course...

Joe, you seem to be under the impression that i agree with the wrongs they do in the name of their religion?
However I don't believe two wrongs make a right. Regardless of what you or anyone who doesn't believe in religion may say or think, a Holy book should be respected. If you don't want ot believe, fine, then dont- but don't make a mockery of anyone else who does.

The Pastor is completely out on a limb, according to the news even Obama has condemned him now for being frankly so stupid to even propose doing that. If he does it, I hope they throw the book at him (no pun intended) for incitement, religious intolerance, rank stupidity, call it what you will. This stupid plan proves no point at all, other than that he has no grasp of the world situation.
Did you not read my previous answers trt?
I said that to you and others the Loran, or any Holy book might just be "a book with pages in it", but ot many many other people it means far more.Surely their belief of that, whether you agree or not, should be respected?
Surely im not on my own in thinking this way?

trt. the Koran is the holiest book in that faith (whether or not you agree with it), you can read it in a field, you don't need a mosque, burning down a building would have far less effect. if it's important to a believer then it's far from being "just a book" - but burning it is going to set flames much further afield than the self-righteous pastor appears to be able to comprehend.
Self-righteous hell, I suspect PTJ will confirm his righteousness is bestowed upon him by a 'higher authority' . . . as will those who are already demonstrating their indignation. We can only pray that reason will prevail because this has gone on for far to long and regardless of the outcome of this one incident, the root cause of this has not been adequately addressed and the effect will not be eliminated until the minds of an overwhelming majority have been withdrawn from the clouds and all responsible are ready to acknowledge it and be held accountable, not in the 'next life' but here and now.
Religion does not serve as a viable substitute for a lack of reason, yours, mine, theirs or ours, never has, never will.

Mr. Jones has obviously been reading this thread, as the book burning has been canceled.

For better or worse none of these things are crimes in America (though if rank stupidity was most of would have served a jail term or two, I think>
