It's a very sad fact that hundreds of thousands of chiuldren go missing worldwide every year. This case just has more media attention than others.

Sqad I really hope you are wrong, but it seems likely. It looks as though they have reached a dead end looking for her. If she is alive she could be anywhere in the world now. It is so sad I feel sorry for the McCanns.

Never thought I'd say this, but I'm with Sqad on this. If the papers announced she was dead, it would not surprise me in the slightest.

I don't feel sorry for her parents, not the least because I think they know more than they're letting on. It's Maddie I feel sorry for, because I think even in death she deserves for the truth to be known. I hope that comes out sooner rather than later.

It's sad but I don't think it's strange at all - children are taken, children go missing, all over the world, and many of them are never heard of again. This one was so high profile becase her parents could afford for it to be so - and they must feel so guilty for leaving the children alone in the apartment whilst they were eating. Small pretty blonde girl - one theory is that a fast boat was waiting and she was in North Africa within a few hours. There have been alleged sightings all over Europe. BTW, her mother was adamant that they never called her Maddie, the press abbreviated it, she was always called Madeleine.
You may also remember the little blond boy who went missing in Cyprus, that must be twenty years ago now, he was never found either.

saxy/supersuez. How can you say that you don't feel sorry for the McCanns for the loss of their lovely child,after all the money and appeals and the searches they have done. What could they know, more than they are letting on?

The McCanns were devout Catholics and believed in the power of prayer. They even got the Pope to support their quest and billions of people all over the world prayed regularly for her safe return . Many still do . The McCanns are still trying to stimulate interest and still believe in the power of prayer and publicity.
