A town hitherto best known for Lacrosse sticks, thrown into the limelight ...

In all seriousness it was only becuase Wenger started to belittle it and hes a Sky darling, so got all the publicity about so many games being played. The media went with it and so did a lot of managers who should know better.

Gary Megson at both Bolton and WBA feilded weakend teams in it, why? He stated it was to keep the team(s) fresh for the relegation battle but despite that they still played crap.

It short changes the fans and diminishes the club when they get beaten by "lesser" opposition. with Man U and Chelsea winning it, it is coming back to prominence.

No haha :) Here of my own free will. I wanted to go see some of the lacrosse but had too much on. Shame as was only about 10 mins away from where I live and on my bus route to and from the city.

I used to live nearish Eccles but live a bit further away now, right near Moss Side in fact.

I've had a few sticks from Hattersley's, but never been there. I'd like to go.

Moss Side is a nice name for a place. It sounds like a name from The Wind In The Willows.

Manchester, filthiest place we've ever been to, £3.25 for a cup of weak cold coffee, and a sugar bowl that was......well it defied description....Trafford centre.....mancunians, you can keep it all to yourselves... never ever again.

Eccles is in Salford so to the west of the city centre, think Old Trafford up and to the left a bit.

I'm in South Manchester. It's not quite storybook round here but not all as bad as people think. Like anywhere really, good and bad areas.

My late uncle lived in south africa, we made a visit and he took us to the outskirts of Soweto, compared to Manchester, just about preferable, at least the locals were friendly and didn't try to rip us off at every opportunity.

All towns have good and bad parts (except London - ALL bad!)

Most of Brighton is a bit crap, but the good bits are wonderful.

I will come up some time. I bought a couple of sticks from Hattersley's for my pals' daughter recently, but I had them posted down to me.
