I love this thing about how much money the royals generate - every time there is an argument against having them someone pipes up with sums of money generated by the royal family. Generated for who? Where are all these millions?
Question Author
They go directly to the Treasury so that the government of the day can squander them.
A royal wedding, eh? I heard it was a royal weeding!

Sorry to disapoint you then karen. As Jack has correctly stated, it goes to the treasury. Of course, we can always blame the Royals for the government squandering the money so badly i guess.
Another mouth to feed on the State (and probably a load more long term too)

Better order some more Gin.
it doesn't all go to the government. Make your own W&K mugs and flog them off at boot sales and you'll keep the money. Airlines bringing in wedding guests don't have to hand over the fares to Osborne. Etc etc.
I suppose the question I should be asking is where can I hide to avoid all the media attention leading up to this wedding?
That's a good point beswad. By next August I shall be sick of hearing about it.

I rather think that the saturation coverage of the event will have tried the patience of all but the most forgiving y the time we get there.
Most tourists never see a royal and would come anyway. Show them a castle/palace and they will take their snaps, you do not need the very expensive residents as well.

The cuts should be hurting by the time of the wedding, so there could be an extra 2 million or so with nothing to do. So it might be a good turnout.

^ God loves a trier, apparently............
Yeah, they might attract tourists to London, but I doubt many people come to Loch Lomond on account of the Queen.
good point karen. imo more tourists come to see nessie than the royals in scotland, and you have more chance of seeing nessie !
This Wedding will be overshadowed by ours ( Rowan and Myself ) !!! :-))
Question Author
^ That should be on the 'Happy' Thread, Redman........:o)
red....do me a favour........go to Loch Lomond for your honeymoon !!!
Not sure about that Squad, Rowan might throw me in the Loch and run off with you instead ! lol
