He had a string of convictions including possession of drugs and burglary so certainly a nasty piece of work prior to the hit and run but can't see how capital punishment would have deterred him from coming here.

I just find it astonishing that this country allows entry to anyone with criminal convictions. Countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada etc only allow entry to people who are trustworthy and have no convictions. People can't even visit for a holiday if they have a criminal record. No one decries Australia as racist, xenophobic etc. They're just not stupid.
